Electric Vehicles

EUMMOT is actively working with local research organizations and government agencies to faciliate the growth of the electric vehicle (EV) market in the state of Texas. Assisting with issues such as grid integration, availability of charging stations, pricing structure and related issues, the Texas Investor-Owned Utilities are helping pave the way for this emerging technology.
CenterPoint Energy and KEMA recently completed a whitepaper, "Electric Vehicles in Houston: Motivations, Trends, and Distribution System Impacts," as part of a larger data gathering effort with the Center for the Commercialization of Electric Technologies (CCET). The study "is meant to facilitate future policy and program planning" and "is intended to compliment existing EV efforts by information program and system planners of the range of likely EV impacts and highlight potentially vulnerable areas of the electric system." This paper will be incorporated into a report to be released by CCET later in the year.
